About the Therapists

Sarah E. Van Winkle, M.S., CCC-SLP

My love for Speech Pathology began when I taught my little sister to say her “R” sound when I was nine years old. “Just growl like a lion”. It continued when I became friends with a Deaf classmate in middle school. Of course, I didn’t realize Speech Pathology was an actual profession until I had the opportunity to observe an SLP in a public school when I was in high school. After graduating with my undergraduate degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Northern Iowa, I completed my Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from California State University, Northridge. Not only did I study the English language; but, have completed courses in American Sign Language and French. I practiced in Colorado Springs public schools for six years and have been in private clinics since 2010. I love every moment of my profession as working to improve the communication of children brings so much joy to each day. When I am not helping your children with their speech and language, I am hanging with our cool kids Ella, Jude, and Eli. I also love the outdoors, especially hiking, and running around our beautiful town of Colorado Springs!

Angie Muri, M.S., CCC-SLP

I received my Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Nevada, Reno. I began my career in the pediatric private setting in Reno, NV, and then moved to Colorado Springs in 2013. I have a wide range of experience in the field. I have had the opportunity to work with children aged 18 months-21 years of age with a variety of communication delays including Developmental Delays, Feeding Disorders, Down Syndrome, Autism, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Fluency Disorders, Social Pragmatic Language Disorders, and Articulation/Phonological Disorders. I have received specialized training in the Sequential-Oral-Sensory approach to feeding. I enjoy working with individuals of all ages and their families. I am passionate about childhood communication and helping children become effective communicators. I believe in the philosophy of teaching language through play and I am committed to developing treatment plans that help children succeed to their fullest potential. When I am not working, I like to spend time with my husband and our two children.

Kelsey Lamberson, M.A., CCC-SLP

I earned my Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Colorado, Boulder. I am a Colorado native, who recently returned to this wonderful state. I have had the opportunity to practice Speech Language-Pathology in a variety of settings, including a skilled nursing facility, outpatient rehabilitation clinic, school, and now private practice. I have received the ASHA ACE award for my dedication to continuing education. I am truly passionate about my field and helping others communicate! When I’m not working, I enjoy reading, hiking, traveling, and spending time with my family and friends.

Caleb Van Winkle, SLP-A

My journey as a Speech and Language Assistant began 13 years ago when I took a job as a Speech and Language Paraprofessional in a local school district.

With excellent guidance and advice from my supervising SLPs, I quickly became quite interested in the field. I attended CU Boulder for my S/L leveling courses and acquired my SLP-A license. It has been a joy working with kids of all ages and abilities.

Aside from work, I love ultimate frisbee, hiking mountains, kayaking, climbing, and pretty much anything the Colorado backcountry has to offer. I am a proud dad of three and have an ornery dog. Life is good. Go Hawks!

Susan Mueller- Office Administrator

I was born and raised in Lawrence, Kansas but now call Ankeny, Iowa

home with my husband (Ben) and two children (Jane & David). I graduated with my B.S. in Business Management and Leadership from Oklahoma Wesleyan University in 2013. After working in HR for about 5 years, I decided to make the switch to work and parent from home every day. In 2019, the opportunity to join PSLC on a remote, part-time basis was presented to me, and I couldn’t have been more excited to join the team.

I enjoy fair weather running, baking, bargain hunting, spending time with family, and sending mass emails (just kidding on that last one).  Although I don’t live in Colorado, our family takes a trip to Estes Park every other year. I look forward to the breathtaking views, hiking, and that mountain air you all get to enjoy every day. 🙂

Fun fact! I’m married to Sarah’s brother which makes her my sister-in-law and Caleb my brother-in-law. Getting to work with family is the best.

Katie Davis, OTR/L

I received my Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Colorado State University. Originally from San Diego, we recently moved here to be close to family. I have had the pleasure of working in pediatrics for my entire career within various settings including inpatient, outpatient, and private practice. Within these settings, I gained experience with a wide range of diagnoses and treatment strategies and had the opportunity to become certified in a few specific sensory processing and feeding selectivity approaches. I truly love my job and the unique opportunity it gives me to support children and their families in their daily activities. When I am not working, I love spending time with my family and exploring all the Colorado outdoors has to offer.

Sarah Schemmel, M.S., CCC-SLP

I received my Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Iowa. I recently finished my clinical fellowship where I sought out opportunities to gain more knowledge and experience with the pediatric population. I enjoy getting to play with kids every day while also teaching.

    Jamie Mendell, CCC-SLP

My speech pathology journey began following a mild traumatic brain injury in high school and the rest, as they say, is history. Following two years of cognitive rehabilitation therapy, I realized a profession helping others find their voice and communicating their needs was for me!  I completed a double major with a Bachelors of Science in Audiology and Speech Language Sciences with a minor in Psychology at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC).  Coming back to Colorado Springs after my undergraduate years and two years working as a speech assistant in the educational setting, I returned to UNC to complete my Masters of Arts in Speech Language Pathology in 2012.  I began my career in the public school setting in 2007 and continued supporting students ranging from three to 21 years old for 16 years.  I made the switch to PSLC beyond a substitute SLP in 2023 and haven’t looked back.  Knowing that we get to make an impact in clients’ and families’ lives by teaching, empowering and supporting their communication is powerful!  It’s an honor to do what I do each day in the field of speech-language pathology.  You can find me baking/cooking with my three kids (Elijah, Micah, and Natalie), walking our dog, or working in a garden on my off days. These Colorado Springs are always beautiful and I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else!
