Pediatric Speech and Language Center accepts medical insurance plans. If you choose not to use your medical insurance, financial arrangements are available including self-pay options.

Developmental Milestones
Birth-3 months:
- Recognize mother/father’s voice
- Differentiate cries
- Smile at caregivers
- Stops crying when spoken to
4-6 months
- Cries and babbles (cooing) to communicate needs
- Smiles alone in play
- May demonstrate preference between individuals
7-12 months
- Begin to use intentional communication to gain your attention
- Understand several words we use
- Start to understand simple commands (come here, want more?)
- Beginning to babble several consonant sounds (baba, mama, dada, gaga)
- May begin to use a few early words
- Respond to changes in the tone of your voice
- Pay attention to music and sound.
- May demonstrate fear of strangers
- Recognizes several familiar individuals and enjoys being with them
12-24 months
- Expressive vocabulary of 5-50 words
- Starting to use word combinations (me go)
- Responding to simple commands
- Identify body parts and pictures in books
- Imitating nouns that others around them use
- Use jargon (babble) mixed with real words
2-4 years
- Sentences are three or more words long
- Uses pronouns “I, me, mine”
- May use two languages if bilingual
- Start to recognize written language
- Expressive language from 200-2,000 words
- Understand complex 2-3 step commands
- The family understands at least 90% of what the child says
